Some journeys are not merely work assignments, but rather journeys to touch the life, culture, and pristine breath of the mountains and forests. For the working group and artists participating in the trip to Trà Leng, these were days of trekking through forests and climbing slopes amidst the great wilderness to preserve the cultural values that exist in this highland region.
The Journey Through the Forest in the High Mountains of Trà Leng
Nestled in the western mountainous region of Da Nang, Trà Leng appears with deep forests, rugged terrain, and an almost pristine beauty. To access the filming locations deep in the forest, the working group had to travel by motorbike for nearly an hour on winding mountain roads before continuing a trek that lasted more than three hours. Steep slopes, slippery rocks, and narrow trails just wide enough for one person made the journey extremely challenging. Deep in the forest, where there is almost no electricity, team members had to carry dozens of kilograms of heavy filming equipment, navigating through each treacherous section of the path.
According to a representative of the working group, there were times when the artists were almost exhausted after many hours of continuous climbing. Some sat silently in the forest, no longer having the strength to continue. However, with team spirit and the desire to preserve the most authentic moments of Trà Leng culture, everyone encouraged each other to continue the journey.
Accompanying Support from Local Authorities and People
Throughout the trip, the local authorities and people of Trà Leng supported the team with a sense of responsibility and heartfelt companionship. From preparing personnel, guiding, assisting with equipment transportation, to setting up filming locations, all contributed to making the journey smoother amidst the difficult conditions of the mountains and forests.
In addition to logistical support, local people also accompanied the team in recreating traditional cultural activities such as gong performances, community gatherings, and the daily life of the Ca Dong, Xơ Đăng, and Mơ Nông ethnic groups.
Preserving Indigenous Cultural Values
Behind every film frame and image is sweat, effort, and heavy footsteps amidst the mountains and forests. For the working group, the trip not only had professional significance but was also a journey contributing to the preservation of indigenous cultural values that the Trà Leng community has maintained for generations. The Photography & Application Cooperative stated that the materials collected from the trip will serve to promote and preserve local culture in the coming time.
This is considered a valuable data source to spread the image of Trà Leng – a land rich in identity with distinctive cultural values of the mountainous region.
