Essential civil work for the highlands
Mr. Nguyễn Đức Dũng, along with representatives of local authorities and accompanying units, attended the ceremony.
Trà Leng is a mountainous commune with a vast and highly fragmented terrain due to hills, mountains, rivers, and streams, covering a natural area of over 221 km². The commune currently has about 6,500 people with over 1,500 households, mostly ethnic minorities living in 7 hamlets in particularly difficult areas. Ông Yên village alone has 11 households with 47 residents. The lives of the people are still very difficult, with income mainly relying on swidden farming and exploitation of forest by-products.
During the rainy season of 2025, this area was severely isolated due to high water levels and disrupted transportation. According to local authorities, the temporary bridge built by residents in 2007 has seriously deteriorated, posing potential safety risks during travel, especially during the stormy season.
Connecting transportation, ensuring safety for residents
According to the design documents, the Ông Yên suspension bridge has an estimated total cost of over 955 million VND from the support of the Vietnamese Women Entrepreneurs Club attending the Global Women's Summit, along with counterpart funds from the commune budget. The project is built to the scale of a Type III pedestrian suspension bridge, a Grade IV traffic work, with a length of 90m and a width of 1m.
When completed, the bridge will help residents travel more conveniently, facilitate students' access to school, enable people to transport goods, access medical services and necessities more easily, and reduce isolation during the rainy season. According to local authorities, this is not only a traffic project but also has social welfare significance for the struggling highland community.
Focus on developing mountainous areas after merger
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyễn Đức Dũng emphasized that in the city's new development space after the merger, the requirement is not only rapid development but also harmonious, inclusive, and sustainable development.
According to him, investing in essential infrastructure for mountainous, remote, and ethnic minority areas is an important measure of development quality and social welfare work.
The city leaders also highly appreciated the proactive efforts of the Trà Leng Commune People's Committee in surveying, preparing documents, and arranging conditions for project implementation; and acknowledged the support of the Vietnamese Women Entrepreneurs Club in funding the project.
